Hello Gorgeous!

I’m Jennifer, welcome to my beauty and lifestyle blog. Thank you for stoping by. Hope you have a nice stay!

Let's talk foundations.

Let's talk foundations.

Hello Gorgeous,
Ever since I can remember I have been a makeup fanatic. My earliest memory of wearing lipstick was when I was about five years old. Later on when puberty made her debut I started to experience the much dreaded cystic acne. It was at this point that I started my journey with foundations. I saw the Covergirl liquid to powder formula as my savior; it was extremely full coverage (probably not the best idea) but it gave me a peace of mind and I enjoyed it.

As an adult I no longer suffer from acne. However, I do have a wonderful companion which is Rosacea. It’s most aggressive in the highest points of my cheeks which when active gets really hot to the point of melting foundations. After many failed attempts I have found some staple foundations that are here to stay. Here are my recommendations for full coverage foundations that are buildable and can cover extreme redness. I have normal skin and these are the best foundations I have tried as of now.

NARS Natural Radiant Longwear - My shade

This is the one that I have been wearing for a few decades, it has a beautiful natural/dewy finish. This foundation works very well with skin care products, it’s possible to have a nice medium coverage with one or even half of the pump.

Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Soft Radiance - Shades available

As extreme a foundation as this is, the finish is really beautiful.  It is of a thick consistency. Therefore, I suggest applying it with a brush vs. a beauty sponge. I have used this foundation in extreme humidity and in light rain; it does not move. I find it best to work in sections. It doesn't dry extremely fast but  is best to take time to blend.

La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer - My shade

I was skeptical about making the investment on this one. Being less of a commercial beauty line there is not a vast amount of information available. The finish is the most natural I’ve tried from a medium/full coverage foundation. It works beautifully with a brush and a beauty sponge.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless - My shade

This is the newest addition to my foundation quest. Out of the ones mentioned this has the most liquid consistency. I have applied it with a synthetic brush and with a synthetic/natural brush. The product looks gorgeous with both brushes. I have not used a beauty sponge but, looking at the consistency I know it will work great as well. This foundation has a natural and semi dewy finish.

Every foundation has its magic. I will be doing in-depth reviews on each of them. Because of my current skin needs I rather use a medium to full coverage. My hope is to be able to try lightweight foundations in the future, once my skin is under control. I hope this gives you a helpful overview of the foundations that cover red skin.
